Between Two Worlds – Why Our Life Between Germany and Cape Town Is More Than Just Travel

Cape Town or Germany? We hear this question all the time.
And to be completely honest: We spent a long time trying to find a clear answer ourselves.
But eventually we realized:👉 It’s not about “either/or.”👉 It’s about the in-between.
How it all began
When you see us today—juggling cooking classes in Germany and wine tours in Cape Town—it often looks like a well-thought-out plan.
But it isn’t.
It grew.
Out of our shared passion for food, travel, and people. Out of many spontaneous decisions. And out of the desire to lead a life that doesn’t just sound good—but feels good, too.
Frank has always been the one who makes things happen. Lenka is the one who makes them special.
And somewhere between these two energies, Frankas Place was born.

Germany – our home for genuine connections
We’re in Germany from April through October.
Here, everything is a bit more structured. More predictable. Calmer.
But there’s something beautiful about that, too.
To us, our cooking classes aren’t just “events.” They’re evenings.
Evenings where strangers come together and often end up staying longer than planned. Evenings when one glass of wine suddenly becomes two. And a class becomes an experience. What we do here isn’t just cooking. It’s connection.
Cape Town – the place that changed us
And then comes Cape Town.
Every year anew.
And every time, it feels a little like someone has flipped a switch.
Everything becomes lighter. More open. More spontaneous.
This is where our ideas are born. This is where we let ourselves drift. This is where the moments happen that you can’t plan.
Our wine tours were born exactly from that. Not from a business plan—but from the feeling:
👉 “We have to share this.”
What most people don’t see
Many see two things:👉 Cooking classes in Germany 👉 Wine tours in Cape TownBut what they don’t see is the connection between them
Cape Town inspires what we bring to life in Germany. Germany gives us the space to share our experiences.
A dish we cook here often has its origins there. A conversation in Germany reminds us of a moment in Cape Town.
It’s all connected.
Why our guests feel this way
Whether you’re in the kitchen with us in Germany or driving through the wine country with us:
👉 It’s never just about what we do.
It’s about the feeling that comes with it.
Relaxed. Authentic. Unplanned. And often a little longer than you expected.
Franka’s Place isn’t a plac
Nor is it a traditional experience
It’s a way of life.
Between:
two countries
two paces and so many moments that stay with you
And maybe that’s exactly why…
…people keep coming back to us.
Not because they want to book a cooking class. Or a wine tour.
But because they want to be part of this world for a few hours.
👉 If that’s exactly what you’re looking for: A little bit of Cape Town. A little bit of Germany. And a whole lot of real life.
Then you’ve come to the right place.
